Press Release No:695/04 DISTRIBUTION OF INCENTIVE GRANT-IN-AID Shillong, October 27, 2004: The Director of Employment and Craftsmen Training, Meghalaya, Shillong, has informed that the distribution of Incentive grant-in-aid to passed-out trainees of Industrial Training Institutes and inauguration of ‘DIAL-A-SERVICE’ will be held on 01-11-2004 at 11:00 A.M at the Industrial Training Institute, Rynjah, Shillong. The Meghalaya Minister for Labour, etc., Mr. Sayeedullah Nongrum, will grace the occasion as Chief Guest, while Mr. Sanjeev Kumar, Commissioner and Secretary, Labour Department will attend the function as Guest of Honour. |

Press Release No:696/04 DISTRICT LEVEL CHILDREN’S SCIENCE CONGRESS Shillong, October 27, 2004: The Deputy Commissioner, Ri Bhoi District, Nongpoh, Mr. W.L. Lyngdoh, inaugurated the District Level Children’s Science Congress at the Science Hall, Nongpoh on October 26, 2004. Organised by the District Planning Office in collaboration with the State Council for Science, Technology and Environment (SCSTE), Shillong, the theme of the programme was “Harness of Water for better future”, which aimed at making children of 10-17 years have a unique opportunity to discover and promote science and technology. In his inaugural speech, Mr. Lyngdoh lauded the organisers, especially the SCSTE for their efforts in organising the programme which was imperative for the welfare of the school students. ‘Science and technology have acquired an important part in education, power, wealth and development process through its application’, he said, and therefore urged the students to have a discovery oriented approach and try to discover something from the surroundings. Further, Mr. Lyngdoh said that the rich natural resources in the District have good potential for the establishment and manufacture of products through scientific application and therefore urged upon the students to take the opportunity of imbibing scientific knowledge from the Science Congress and to disseminate it to others for the welfare of the District and the State as a whole. Later on the day, four schools were selected to represent the District to the State Level National Children’s Science Congress to be held at Shillong on 04-11-2004. They are the King of Kings Secondary School, Mawkyrdep, Nehru Memorial Secondary School, Umsning, Don Bosco School, Byrnihat, Little Flower School, Mawbri and Nongpoh Nepali Primary School. |
