Press Release No:657/04 DISTRIBUTION OF RICE UNDER ANNAPURNA SCHEME Shillong, October 12, 2004: The Deputy Commissioner (Supply), East Khasi Hills, Shillong has informed that 30 kgs of rice against the month of July, August and September 2004 has been released under the Annapurna Scheme and will be distributed through fair price shops, free of cost at the scale of 10 kgs per card per month. In urban areas, for the entire locality of Mawlai rice will be distributed to card holders through M/S P. Kharbuli located at Mawlai Mawdatbaki; for card holders residing in Mawprem, Jaiaw and Qualapaty, distribution will take place through M/S E. Passah located at Sunny Hill; for those residing at Laban, Lawsohtun and Lumparing distribution will take place at M/S Bela Store at Laban; for residents of Rynjah, Pohskeh and Umpling distribution will take place through M/S B. Kharsyntiew at Pohkseh; for card holders residing at Pynthor Nongmynsong and Mawpat distribution will place at M/S Gopal Store at Polo and for those residing at Malki, Nongthymmai and Madanriting distribution will take place through M/S Pandit Store at Laitumkhrah. In rural areas, rice will be distributed through M/S Sandrina Shangpliang at Mawsynram Khliehshnong covering villages under the Mawsynram C&RD Block; for villages under the Mawkynrew C&RD Block, rice will be distributed through M/S Jien Pyngrope at Mawkynrew; for villages under the Pynursla C&RD Block, rice will be distributed through M/S Bik Khongthaw at Pynursla; for villages under the Mylliem C&RD Block, rice will be distributed through M/S K. Nongkhlaw at Mylliem Nongbet; for villages under the Mawryngkneng C&RD Block, rice will be distributed through M/S Khriang Lamare at Mian Orad Mawryngkneng and for villages under the Laitkroh C&RD Block, rice will be distributed through M/S Phrikstar Nongkynrih at Laitkroh. |

Press Release No:658/04 ILLICIT LIQUOR SEIZED Shillong, October 12, 2004: In the continuing drive against illicit liquor, the Excise staff of East Khasi Hills District, Shillong while conducted raids in restaurants/ stalls in town and its outskirts, detected 158 cases and seized 341.465 litres of i/d liquor and 18.540 litres IMFL during the month of September 04. In this connection 143 persons were arrested under the Excise Act. This was informed by the Deputy Commissioner (Excise) East Khasi Hills District, Shillong. |

Press Release No:659/04 ROAD SAFETY AWARENESS PROGRAMME Shillong, October 12, 2004: The Commissioner of Transport, Government of Meghalaya, Shillong has informed that the Society of Indian Automobiles Manufacturers, New Delhi in collaboration with the Meghalaya Transport Department will organise a Road Safety March by school children on October 13, 2004. The March will start from State Central Library at 9:00 AM and culminate at St. Mary’s Higher Secondary School Auditorium, Shillong where dignitaries of the State Government will address the function. A workshop for drivers will also be organized on October 13 & 14, 2004 at the hall of the Shillong Club Limited from 11:30 AM to 5:00 PM, which will be attended by the said dignitaries. |

Press Release No:660/04 SCHEDULE OF 24-UMMULONG-MOODYMMAI BYE ELECTION Shillong, October 12, 2004: The Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, District Council Affairs has announced the programme for the Bye Election of the 24 Ummulong Moodymmai District Council Constituency. The last date for filling of nominations is on October 15, 2004 upto 3:00 PM and scrutiny of nominations is after 3:00 PM on the same day. The last date of withdrawal of nominations is on October 19, 2004 and finalization of publication of valid nominations is on October 26, 2004. Polling will be held on November 10, 2004 and counting will be held on November 12, 2004. |

Boys born between July 02, 1994 and July 1, 1995 and boys born between July 2, 1990 and July 1, 1991, studying or have passed Class V and VIII from recognised Schools can apply for admission.
