Shillong, June 26, 2004: Meghalaya Minister of Housing, Evaluation and Home (Passport), Mr. P. M. Syiem who is also the local M.L.A., inaugurated the Community Hall at Nongkseh, Upper Shillong today in the presence of Mr. B.M. Lanong, M.D.C., amidst great enthusiasm of the people of the region. It may be mentioned that the Community Hall was constructed under the JGSY, SGRY schemes at the cost of Rs.3,15,000/ and also from the D.C. DEV. Scheme of the Khasi hills Autonomous District Council at the rate of Rs.3,44,000/, of which the total amount for the whole construction is Rs.6,59,000/.

In his inaugural addressed, Mr. Syiem said that the dreams and aspirations of the people of the region have been fulfilled with the inauguration of the Community Hall. He hopes that the Hall would be utilized in a multi purpose manner such as Institution for Vocational Training, Library etc. which would be of great help to the people of the region. He called upon the people to treat all the facilities provided by the Government as their own asset for the benefit of the people. Mr. Syiem assured that He would provide chairs for the Community Hall and also all possible help for the local committee Nongkseh for the overall development of the region.

The Inaugural function was presided by Mr. R. Rumnong who is also the headman of the locality. Amongst other who spoke on the occasion includes Mr. B.M. Lanong.
