PUBLICATION OF ELECTORAL ROLLS

Shillong, July 9, 2004: The Additional District Commissioner (Election), i/c Resubelpara Civil Sub-Division, East Garo Hills has informed that with regard to holding of Civic Election to the Municipal Board, Resubelpara, the publication of draft Electoral Rolls is scheduled for July 1, 2004. The last date for filling claims and objection is July 8, 2004. Disposal of claims/objections will take place on July 18, 2004 while publication of final Electoral Rolls is scheduled for July 27, 2004. Wards will be called to elect their representatives on July 30, 2004.

The last date for filing of nominations is August 2, 2004. Nomination papers will be scrutinised on August 4, 2004 after 3:00 PM. The last date for withdrawal of nomination papers is the August 7, 2004 and the date of finalisation and publication of valid nomination and allocation of symbols is August 8, 2004.

Polling will take place on August 27, 2004 and the date of counting is slated for August 30, 2004.

NOTIFICATION

Shillong, July 9, 2004: The Executive Engineer PWD (Roads), NH Shillong Bye Pass Division, Shillong has informed that the B.U.G Bridge No.13/1 over the river Umiew at 13th KM of Laitkor-Pomlakrai-Laitlyngkot road, is temporarily closed for a period of 15 days for all vehicular traffic due to repair works being carried out on the deck slabs of the bridge.

INTERNATIONAL YEAR OF RICE 2004

Shillong, July 9, 2004: Together with the rest of the world, Meghalaya also observed the International Year of Rice 2004 through a series of awareness programme organised by the Department of Agriculture in different villages of Mawryngkneng, Ichamati, Tyrsad and Jowai. The District Agriculture Officer East Khasi Hills, Shillong also organised a similar programme at Upper Shillong today, the 9th of July 2004 wherein Officers of the Department and Scientists of ICAR interacted with farmers on aspects of agriculture with special emphasis on rice cultivation with a definite goal of achieving self sufficiency in foodgrains production.
