Press Release No. 437/04 RICE UNDER ANNAPURNA SCHEME RELEASED Shillong, July 14, 2004: The Deputy Commissioner (Supply), East Khasi Hills District has informed that 30 kgs of rice under Annapurna Scheme against the month of April, May and June 2004 has been released and will be distributed to all entitlement card holders at the scale of 10 kgs per card per month through Fair Price Shops. For the entire locality of Mawlai, rice will be distributed though M/s P. Kharbuli at Mawlai Mawdatbaki, for Mawprem, Jaiaw and Qualapatty through M/s E Passah, Sunny Hill, for Laban, Lawsohtun and Lumparing at M/s Bela Store, Laban, for Rynjah, Pohkseh and Umpling at M/s B. Kharsyntiew, Pohkseh, for Pynthor, Nongmensong and Mawpat at M/s Gopal Store, Polo and for Malki, Nongthymmai and Madanriting, rice will be distributed through M/s Pandit Store, Laitumkhrah. For rural areas, rice will be distributed through M/s Sandrina Shangpliang at Mawsynram, Khliehshnong for villages under the Mawsynram C & RD Block, M/s Jien Pyngrope, Mawkynrew for villages under the Mawkynrew C & RD Block, M/s Rik Khongthaw, Pynursla for villages under the Pynursla C & RD Block, M/s K. Press Release No. 438/04 MEETING OF CIVIL DEFENCE PREPAREDNESS HELD AT TURA Shillong, July 14, 2004: The meeting of the District Level Advisory Committee on Civil Defence Preparedness was held at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office building, Tura, on July 13, 2004. The Deputy Commissioner and Controller of Civil Defence, West Garo Hills, Mr. S. Jagannathan, who is also the Chairman of the Committee said that the meeting was sort of a preliminary briefing to inform the members about the various services under Civil Defence, which largely depends on voluntary services. He urged the different agencies to indicate what supplementary measures and communications services they could provide in their respective localities in times of natural disasters and other emergencies. He also said that the Deputy Controller would be making separate Civil Defence record for different categories of work, adding that another meeting would be convened soon for further discussions. The Deputy Controller and Member Secretary, Mr. Merinpole Sangma briefed the members about the Civil Defence services and measures for the Tura Civil Defence tower. Stating that Tura, being the Category II disaster risk town, he added that the functioning of all 12 existing Civil Defence services for systematic operation during disasters cannot be overlooked. During the course of the discussions, the members agreed to extend full cooperation and offered suggestions for disaster preparedness. |
