MUMBAI BAND SET TO ROCK SHILLONG CITY

Shillong, January 19, 2004: In keeping with the 32nd Statehood Day celebration, the arress, event organisers in collaboration with the Meghalaya Tourism Development Corporation, will organise a Rock Show at Pinewood Hotel on January 21, 2004 from 8:00 P.M. onwards. The concert will feature a rock band from Mumbai ‘Pralay’. Tickets are available at Pinewood Hotel at the rate of Rs. 500/- for couples and Rs.300/- for single entry.

It may be mentioned that Pralay is the first Indian rock band to qualify and short listed for the Grammy Award-2003, after recent release of their Album Urban Reality in the US and UK.

LOTSING SANGMA’S DEATH CONDOLED

Shillong, January 19, 2004: The Chief Minister of Meghalaya and his Cabinet have condoled the sad and sudden demise of Mr. Lotsing A Sangma, former Deputy Chief Minister of Meghalaya. Expressing shock over the news, a condolence message was sent to the bereaved family.

IFA INVITES PROPOSAL FOR ART COLLABORATION PROGRAMME

Shillong, January 19, 2004: The Executive Director of the India Foundation for Arts (I.F.A.) invites proposals from individuals/organisations for grant to be made under its art collaboration programme between such art forms as dance, theatre, music, painting, sculpture, film, literature, architecture, ceramics, print making, textiles, handicrafts etc.,. The last date for receipt of draft proposal is February 28, 2004. The last date for receipt of final proposals is March 31, 2004.

PRIZE MONEY FOR RI BHOI CULTURAL PROGRAMME

Shillong, January 19, 2004: With respect to the cultural programme of Ri Bhoi that would be held at Pahamsyiem playground in the last part of February, 2004, the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Ri Bhoi District, Nongpoh has informed that cash prize of Rs.5,000.00, Rs.4,000.00 and Rs.3,000.00 will be given to the winning troupe, 1st runners-up and 2nd runners-up respectively. Trophies will also be given to the best three teams.

The Deputy Commissioner also informed that his office would bear upto Rs.1,000.00/- as journey expenses to each troupe. The last date for receiving of application is February 16, 2004.

DISTRIBUTION OF SK OIL

Shillong, January 19, 2004: The Deputy Commissioner (Supply), East Khasi Hills District, Shillong, has notified that Blue dyed S.K.Oil is meant for public distribution only through the appointed S.K.Oil Agencies and S.K.Oil Sub-dealers.

Sales of blue dyed S.K.Oil in public places or open market without valid license is illegal and will be liable for punishment under Clause 3 of the Meghalaya Kerosene (Licensing & Distribution) Control Order, 1988.

DDK TO AIR DOCUMENTARY "LEGACY IN A NEW ERA"

Shillong, January 19, 2004: The documentary entitled "Legacy in a new era" will be aired by the Doordarshan Kendra, Shillong on January 20, 2004 (Tuesday) at 7: 30 PM.

It may be mentioned that the documentary, produced by the Directorate of Information and Public Relation, Government of Meghalaya in commemoration of the 32nd Statehood Day was released by the Meghalaya Chief Minister, Mr D. D Lapang during the inaugural function of the Meghalaya Day celebration at Polo on the January 15, 2004.
