Press Release No.722/03 EX-SERVICEMEN RALLY - 2004 Shillong, December 23, 2003: The Meghalaya Ex-Servicemen Rally 2004 will be held at ‘Sunjie’ Ground of 58 GTC on January 10, 2004 at 8:30 A.M. For convenience of ex-servicemen, Army School Buses will be positioned at Jhalupara Mahavira Park, 7th Mile, Upper Shillong, Nongmynsong Bazar and ply through Lumshyiap, Golflink and also at Mawkhar. All ex-servicemen are requested to avail these buses at the given points and on the way. |

Press Release No.723/03 ‘CHRISTMAS IS A SYMBOL OF PEACE, LOVE AND HAPPINESS’ - W. L. LYNGDOH Shillong, December 23, 2003: The Deputy Commissioner, Ri Bhoi District organised a Pre-Christmas celebration at the Circuit House, Nongpoh during which he announced that out of the total collection of Rs. 30,000/- donated by different Government Departments, NGO’s and individuals, Rs. 15,000/- each will be distributed to the children of the SOS Village at Umiam and the Missionary of Charity, Nongpoh. Other donations like clothes, medicines etc will also be divided equally between them. The celebration was attended by the Officers and staff of different departments, NGOs, students, teachers and orphans of the SOS Village and Missionary of Charity, Nongpoh Choirs and songs rendered by different groups and individuals enlivened the celebration, which was presided over by Deputy Commissioner, Mr W L Lyngdoh. The speakers on the occasion, which included Rev. B R Pamshong, Rev. Fr. M Thongni, Rev S R Nongrum and Rev Fr A Nonglang stressed on the need for all to imbibe the spirit of Christmas and spread the message of love, brotherhood and peace so as to make the world a better place to live in. They also urged upon the youth to be the instruments of peace by shunning the path of violence. Mrs. M Tariang, Asst. Director SOS, Umiam and Mrs. M N Nampui, ADM Nongpoh were among others who also spoke on the occasion. |
