Shillong, August 6, 2004: The Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills, Shillong has informed that all the drivers of local taxis plying in Shillong and its outskirts that Tariff Cards should be kept inside their vehicles daily. The local taxis will be checked by the Magistrates and if any driver found that the Tariff Card is not kept with them, the permit will be suspended for a period a three months.

Shillong, August 6, 2004: The Director, Sainik Welfare, Meghalaya has informed that the recruitment in the army as Havildar Education for the March 2005 batch will be carried out for North Eastern States from October 4th to October 8th, 2004 at the Headquarter Recruiting Zone, Shillong.

The format of application form and other detailed information may be obtained from Zila Sainik Welfare Office, Shillong at room no. 44, Taxation Building and the application form completed in all respect should reach the HQ Recruiting Zone, Shillong latest by August 30, 2004.

Shillong, August 6, 2004: The Office of the Deputy Commissioner and Chairman, Ri Bhoi District, Nongpoh will release pension for beneficiaries under NOAPS, w.e.f June, 2002 to January, 2003 @ Rs.100 per month.

Pensioners falling under Umling, Jirang and Umshning Blocks are requested to contact their respective BDO’s immediately for payment of pensions on any working day.

Shillong, August 6, 2004: A Legal Literacy Campaign organised by the Office of the Deputy Commissioner and sponsored by the Meghalaya Legal Service Authority (MLSA), Shillong was held yesterday at Mynken Christian Secondary School, Bhoirymbhong. Meghalaya Deputy Speaker, Mr. P. W. Muktieh attended the inaugural function, chaired by Deputy Commissioner, Ri Bhoi District, Mr. W. L. Lyngdoh, as the Chief Guest.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Muktieh said that in order to bring a better society , better knowledge of law is required. Therefore, he lauded such an initiative and hoped that such programmes be held in other places of the District for the benefit of the students, youth and people at large. Informing that the present society is in disorder and disorganized form, Mr. Muktieh urged upon the students to always abide by the rules and laws and to make use of what they have gained through the campaign.

At Ashok Auto Service, Shillong the price for Petrol is Rs.36.38 p, at United Hills Super is Rs.36.38 p and for HS Diesel is Rs.22.91 p, at Mahari & Sons the new revised rate is Rs.36.36 p and Rs.21.90 p for HS Diesel, at Bawri Service Station the price of MS Petrol is Rs.36.38 p and Rs.22. 91 p for HS Diesel. At Bawri Hills Service Station, Mawlai the price for MS Petrol is Rs.36.36 p and Rs.21. 90 p for HS Diesel, at Abigail Service Station, Nongthymmai the revised rate for MS Petrol is Rs.36.38 p and Rs.22.91 p for HS Diesel, at Shillong Highway, Mawlyndep the revised rate of MS Petrol is Rs.31. 36 p and for HS Diesel it is Rs.22. 88 p, at Kurbah Service Station, Mawngap the rate is Rs.36.38 p for MS petrol and Rs.22. 93 p for HS Diesel. The revised rate of Extra Premium Petrol will be Rs.37.88 per litre at both Ashok Auto Service, Shillong and United Hills Super SS., Shillong.
