Press Release No: 532/04 RICE UNDER AAY RELEASED Shillong, August 18, 2004: The Deputy Commissioner (Supply), Ri Bhoi District, Nongpoh has informed that all Fair Price Shops who had collected rice under the scheme Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) and Annapurna are to collect their lifting charges for the month of April, 2003 to March, 2004 for AAY and April, 2004 to June, 2004 for Annapurna from his office on or before September 30, 2004. |

Press Release No: 533/04 RICE FOR MIDDAY MEAL SCHEME RELEASED IN RI BHOI DISTRICT Shillong, August 18, 2004: The Deputy Commissioner, Ri Bhoi District has informed that all Schools in Ri Bhoi District who are entitled for Midday Meal scheme for the month of July quota has been released. The release order is being issued from the office of the deputy Commissioner from August 28, 2004 during office hours. Any non receipt or distribution of inferior quality should be brought to the notice of the Deputy Commissioner. |

Press Release No: 534/04 MUSICAL NITE FOR HANDICAPS Shillong, August 18, 2004: The Officer’s Club, Ri Bhoi District, Nongpoh organized a “Musical Nite” in aid of the handicaps of the District at the premises of the Alpha Secondary School, Nongpoh on August 17, 2004. The Meghalaya chief Minister, Dr. D D Lapang graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Lapang lauded the initiatives of the Club in organizing such an event, which aimed at harmonizing the disabled persons with main stream society. He further informed that in keeping with the law enacted by the Government of India, ensuring equal opportunities for the disabled and their full participation in Nation building, the Government of Meghalaya has also provided for a special quota for the disabled, with consideration for recruitment in Government jobs. It may be mentioned that the musical concert, which featured western songs and a few Khasi pop songs, was performed by the Officers including local bands and students. |

Press Release No: 535/04 DISTRICT LEVEL SCIENCE EXHIBITION Shillong, August 18, 2004: A two-day District level science exhibition organized by the Office of the District Planning Officer in collaboration with the office of the office of the Inspector of Schools, Williamnagar was held today at Rongrenggiri Government Higher Secondary School, Williamnagar, East Garo Hills District. The theme of the function is “Science & Technology in the changing world”. The Meghalaya Minister for Community & Rural Development, Mr. Cyprian R. Sangma attended the function as the Chief Guest. The function was presided over by the Deputy Commissioner, East Garo Hills District. Speaking on the occasion Mr. Sangma said that science and technology is being used in every aspect of human life. Our country has produced many scientists and their contribution to the world is tremendous, he added. He then urged upon the teachers to instill the scientific method in the mind of the student while teaching them to change their minds. It may be mentioned that out of 50 schools participating in the exhibition, 6 schools will be selected to participate in the State Level Exhibition. |
